These exceptional musicians once again do not skimp on the diversity of genres and the fusion of influences, somewhat shaking up the age-old codes of world music to leave room for improvisation in a sensitive and daring approach.
Relentlessly exploring acoustic energies at the four cardinal points, the group approaches world music, gypsy jazz and even Latin music without borders. Now offering two shows, one as a quartet called SÉMILLANCE, the other as a sextet called NAGORI, the musicians of the Fils Canouche are now accompanied by prestigious guests such as Javier Estrella on percussion, Mohammed Abozekry on oud or even the excellent Maryll Abbas on accordion. After a great year in 2024, Les Fils Canouche are back in force with their new album entitled “Les Pantophiles”. This new opus perfectly illustrates the eclectic and energetic universe of the group by mixing as usual different musical styles such as Latin music, jazz or even gypsy swing. Les Fils Canouche are renowned for their ability to marry different musical genres with ease, and this album is striking proof of that.
The title "Les Pantophiles" reflects the open and cosmopolitan spirit of the group, which constantly explores new sounds. The term "pantophile" refers to a person who loves everything, which seems to correspond to the musical philosophy of the group: a quest for varied harmonies and rhythms from diverse musical cultures.
In this album, you will find Latin and Balkan influences, combined with more modern rhythms and jazz improvisations, all played with virtuosity by the members of the group and prestigious guests. With "Les Pantophiles", Les Fils Canouche continue to explore musical horizons while maintaining a touch of humor and lightness that characterizes their style. This album is an invitation to travel and let yourself be carried away by the diversity of the group's musical influences.
